Biography:
Buttercup, from the 1987 film The Princess Bride, is the central female character, a beautiful farm girl living in the fictional kingdom of Florin. Initially portrayed as somewhat callous and demanding towards her farmhand, Westley, her true feelings are revealed when she realizes their connection is genuine love.
After Westley departs to seek his fortune, Buttercup is forced into an engagement with the villainous Prince Humperdinck. Unwilling to marry him, she is subsequently kidnapped by a trio of outlaws: Vizzini, Fezzik, and Inigo Montoya.
Throughout the film, Buttercup evolves from a somewhat passive damsel in distress to a determined woman who is willing to sacrifice her own life rather than be forced into a loveless marriage. Her unwavering belief in Westley's love and his eventual rescue solidify her status as an iconic and beloved character in cinematic history. The part of Buttercup was played by Robin Wright.
